This is my most successful attempt to write a love song for my wife. I've written her about 10 songs. She hasn't liked most of them. She always found them too "truthful." I think also the songs I wrote before were more about my feelings (in other words, about me) than about her.
This time I tried to write a song that would be truthful, but not painful. I also wanted it to be more about her than me.
She likes this one.
You are so beautiful and you don’t even know
If you lived in a far away country, that’s where I’d go.
You’re the waves in the water when the moon is bright.
You’re the last thing that I think of when I sleep at night.
Sometimes we get so far apart
It’s just like being marooned
There’s nowhere I can go
Your love saps me like a
slow wound,
Like a slow wound.
I get so frightened. My heart is beating wild.
I’m all grown up, but I feel like a child
There’s a burning in my body won’t go away
And I just keep getting weaker each and every day.
Sometimes we get so far apart
It’s just like being marooned
There’s nowhere I can go
Your love saps me like a
slow wound,
Like a slow wound.
(Instrumental solo)
Your love is like a melody
I play so out of tune
It hurts so bad but I love it so
I just keep healin’ from a
slow wound,
A slow wound.
A slow wound
A slow wound.
